~Pendle Hill~
3rd April 2010
I'd had a busy day including a drive to East Yorkshire and back. Back home and late in the day, the skies to the west cleared and I decided to go up Pendle Hill to see if the setting sun would offer photo opportunities....

Setting The Scene
Roadside parking at 18:40, still no leaves on the tree yet.
The Easier Ascent
For a change, I went up the gentler slope on the left side. One consideration was the avoidance of a large group coming down the steps.
Black Moss Reservoirs
The fields still lack the green we're expecting; Blacko Tower is glowing in the evening sunshine.
Turf Moor
The bright light is one of the floodlights at Turf Moor. Burnley FC are hosting an evening fixture against Manchester City. There had been extensive rainfall over Burnley and many fans hoped the referee might abandon the game early in the second half, however the game continued and the visitors were victorious by a narrow margin (!).
Crows and Sunset |
The Sunset |
Two views of the sunset, the view on the right was taken prior to the sun setting behind the clouds on the horizon.
Easter Summit |
Chains on the Cross |
The Cross is placed at the summit every Easter by local Christians. Happy Easter everyone!
Heavy Shower
A heavy shower resides over the Skipton area.
Oh Dear
Messrs Lambert & Butler have let me down. All the "No Smoking" signs have gone and the smokers are back. If you don't know what I'm on about visit my "Other" page and read the report from April 1st 2010.
